WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
The Compounding Operator is responsible for the operation of the on line color extruder, Compounding Twin Screw Extruders, operation of all quality testing equipment, the making of concentrates, set up of feed for the lines and finished product packaging and storage. Job responsibilities also include quality testing, recording and proper response to testing results. Additional duties required are housekeeping, the maximization of throughput and yield and the ability to assist in the Molding Compound areas when necessary.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Carry out work activities safely according to operating instructions where they are available. Use correct safety equipment. Comply with the specifics of the overall safety program.
- Observe safety environment in which you work to offer constructive criticism toward correction of unsafe practices on the part of your fellow workers, unsafe operating conditions and unsafe equipment.
- Safely respond to Molding Compounds process upsets and emergency conditions.
- Continually monitor the On Line Color/Compounding lines, particularly through process-conditions information collected during scheduled field equipment “rounds”.
- Complete quality control tests in compliance with the Control Plan. Complete additional testing as required to assure Evonik’s standards for quality are met.
- Careful handling of raw materials and finished product to prevent contamination of the product and of the remaining Molding Compounds lines.
- Ensure that product is properly and neatly packaged to assure customer satisfaction.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

High School Diploma or equivalent

Safety, quality, SOP, and process training as identified in the Training Plan.

Technical and computer skills necessary.

Candidate should be able to detect color variation.
- All production employees are authorized to hold and/or reject non-conforming product in accordance with prescribed procedures.
- Set up of raw materials (masterbatch, Rubber Modifier, offgrade, virgin PMMA)
- Operation of the production equipment for the Compounding Lines. This includes the Twin screw extruder, feed system, rubber modifier conveying system, box and silo conveying system, pelletizer, drier/classifier, and box filling system.
- Perform rounds at specified intervals to ensure optimum operation of the Compounding Processes.
- Operate equipment at maximum efficiency.
- Clean extrusion line equipment to ensure no contamination of material occurs as a result of changeovers in production.
- Understand proper response to process alarms and different process conditions.
- Prepare boxes/liners, complete box and bring to storage area.
