As an International Tax Senior Manager in the International Tax group, you will be part of a global team responsible for supporting Business Units of the Caterpillar’s Energy and Transportation reporting segment in structuring direct-service-model deals to global customers and supporting business partners to manage tax risks globally on potential tax issues associated with their services activities.

This fast-paced tax advisory role requires a dynamic individual with experience in multiple jurisdictions, including emerging markets, to support their activities. Every day will be different to work on multiple different projects and initiatives as well as providing ongoing day-to-day support for the business. You will be working as part of a dedicated team and will also need to coordinate support and tax advice with other in-house tax subject matters experts including transfer pricing, indirect tax specialists and with external advisors, to assist in providing tax advice to business partners. The role also gives the opportunity to take the lead on initiatives across the wider Caterpillar Tax group.

The candidate will be part of the Global Tax Team – International Group and will provide comprehensive international tactical tax advice (in collaboration with Caterpillar subject matter experts) covering a broad range of issues, including:

Supply chain analysis Contract analysis and structure Employee mobility Permanent establishment Transfer Pricing

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will assist in providing tactical tax advice and support to various global Business Units of the Energy and Transportation Segment by:

  • Tax Advisory: Analyses projects / contracts, working closely with finance team and other subject matter experts, to determine tax consequences and determines recommendations regarding contracting entity, delivery terms, etc. 
  • Business Related Projects & Tax Planning: Support/Analyses and interprets proposed changes to non-US tax legislations and business activities to determine tax impact and ability to administer.  Educating non-tax personnel on tax-related matters.
  • Mobility: Analyses cross-border mobility risk for corporate and individual tax consequences and provides recommendations
  • Tax Compliance Management & Review: Reviews select non-US income tax returns, transfer pricing reporting and other relevant income tax reporting documentation.

What You Will Have:

  • Education/Experience: The position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, law or business related field and 12+ years of progressively responsible tax related experience
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Conceptual Thinking: Knowledge of thinking and reasoning at a conceptual level; ability to identify the critical ideas and interdependencies among system elements that impact performance.
  • Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of the methods and techniques used for skill and career development; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and coach, mentor and challenge others both inside and outside the organization.
  • Producing Results: Understanding of the criticality of getting things done in spite of current circumstances and the ability to utilize assigned resources and leverage back-channel resources (individuals or teams) to achieve or exceed planned outcomes.
  • Tax Management: Knowledge of tax laws, organizational tax practices, obligations; ability to manage organization tax related issues.
  • Research Analysis: Knowledge of the concepts, methodologies and methods of research analysis; ability to locate, interpret and evaluate research findings compiled and documented by others.
