The Director, Assembly directs and manages all functions of the Assembly department and Facilities team. Responsible for the performance of all Assembly personnel to ensure all divisional metrics are achieved with the highest level of customer satisfaction.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Customer satisfaction - Zero lost opportunities due to customer dis-satisfaction, divisional reputation, or past performance.
• Employee development – Facilitate individual development plans for each direct report and the reports of the Assembly group leadership with a minimum of twelve (12) documented interactions with report per fiscal year.  
• Value driver performance - Achieve approved fiscal plan (bookings, revenue, EBIT, cash, on time delivery (OTD), first pass yield (FPY), turnover, and internal fill).
• ATS business model performance – Achieve Approved Goal Deployment Fiscal Plan
• Executive Leadership Team – Accountable to primary team in all commitments via extreme ownership.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee department managers and department objectives for all operational teams assigned to this role.  
• Strive for continuous improvement in tools, practices, quality, and lead time within all aspects of processes.
• Support leadership team local and segment with all transfer of resources or technology requests, resource development, team development, and a robust reliable voice for the business to count on with transparent, ethical, and direct interaction.
• Achieve and deliver all Assembly objectives to best-in-class expectations.
• Oversight of all capacity and resource loading including approving overtime to budgets, temp. staff, and permanent hiring approvals.
• ISO and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) complete management of all systems, audits, continuous improvement, conformance, and reporting as well as corrective actions where applicable.  Assure 100% compliance with training on time for all employees.
• Support customer dialog in the production of new quotes.
• Support project kick-off meetings, pre-build, build, pre-FAT and FAT gates

Manufacturing, Fab, and Facilities:

• 5S practices driven throughout the entire shop floor.
• Strong focus on executing to scope, staying on paths regardless of rumors of change, ensuring conformance to budgets and schedules while upholding robust commissioning binder practices.
• Foster a performance and paid to perform environment where performance is the expectation, not the exceeding standards philosophy.  
• Snow removal, grass or landscape upkeep, building lights, parking lot, any and all building assets to be managed to defined plans and budgets with minimal surprises.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree in specialized production field or engineering.  
• Ten (10) years’ minimum experience in an assembly or operational leadership role with multi-discipline reports (medical or pharmaceutical automation preferred) in a manufacturing, custom equipment environment, preferably in international markets. 
• Individuals must have an ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with people at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in written form. 
• Excellent knowledge of all aspects of machine operations, mechanical and electronic controls.
• Ability to interpret schedules and assign workload accordingly.
• Lean, Six-Sigma, quantitative risk management, or other continuous improvement experience.
• Knowledge of computer programs such as SolidWorks, ERP systems such as JD Edwards, PLM software, EPlan, Windows, Excel, MS Outlook and SalesForce.
• Basic knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes, including inspection tools.
• Basic knowledge of material handling equipment. 
• Good knowledge of Sales Force a plus or other customer relationship management experience.
• Robotics, synchronous, and A-synchronous experience a plus.
• Finally, the person must be hands-on and must be able to meet deadlines for his or her responsibilities either directly or indirectly.
