Director, Global Product Management (Energy Storage)

Job Summary
The Director, Global Product Management is responsible to lead team of global product managers to drive growth and profitability of Vertiv’s Energy Storage global portfolio. This is a highly visible and critical role that is responsible for driving global growth and profitability by gathering and analyzing voice of the customer, developing a compelling product roadmap, and launching new offerings into the market. The role requires strong collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Service and a close collaboration with regional product management teams to execute new offering programs and manage the existing portfolio of offerings.
This role will report directly to the VP, Global Energy Storage, and be based onsite at our Delaware, OH location.
Responsibilities:
- Leads and mentors a team of global Product Managers to meet current and future business needs.
- Monitors the market to identify and proactively respond to new opportunities based on market research, trends, customer feedback, market demands and competitive activity.
- Manages the development of the 3-year strategic growth plan and offering roadmap to build, maintain and launch prioritized products in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Attends tradeshows, visits customers, and meets with partners and sales teams to ensure an accurate voice of customer is heard in all product plans.
- Develop and execute product lifecycle management plans including product introduction, line extension, engineered to order, and end of production.
- Research market trends, demand drivers, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
- Convert research insights into innovative product strategies and detailed market requirements.
- Maintains a solutions mindset that focuses on solving real customer problems with hardware, software & firmware, and services.
- Ensure all customer facing offering documentation, sales tools, and marketing collateral is available and accurate.
- Develop and track metrics to measure post-launch sales performance of new offerings.
- Manages global product line profitability and volume forecasts.
- Assists in championing resolution of offering issues (i.e. delivery, quality, inventory)
- Identifies and pursues continuous improvement projects that deliver improved efficiency and/or quality.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical degree; Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Master’s degree in business administration is preferred.
- 10+ years technical, product/service management, strategic planning, marketing or directly related experience with increasing managerial responsibilities.
- Experience with Lithium-Ion Batteries or VRLA and or Battery Monitoring is preferred.
- Ability to quickly develop cross-functional and cross-regional relationships to achieve business objectives.
- Process and results oriented with proven ability to accomplish goals.
- Strong business acumen and P&L responsibility experience.
- Analytical skills to understand the impact of market and competitive changes as they affect a product portfolio and determine a successful course of action.
- Proficiency with financial modeling and analysis of product programs.
- Excellent communications skills – written & verbal.
