Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Coach, Baseball.

ROLE of the POSITION

This position exists to assist the Head Baseball Coach in the overall day-to-day management and administration of the baseball program. In addition, this position will have responsibilities coaching and managing the pitching staff. This will in turn, help formulate a baseball program that will result in a nationally competitive team.

This position is expected to assist student-athletes who are committed to the overall academic and athletic mission of UNLV; promote and foster academic success; contribute to the overall development of the athlete by enhancing critical thinking, leadership skills, and social integrity, in order to meet life’s intellectual and ethical challenges. Thus creating a value of life and responsible citizenship…while accomplishing recognition as one of the top national baseball programs.

This position also exists to provide stability, loyalty and a sense of team building for the Head Coach so that the Head Coach can focus building the overall program. The Head Coach will assign other responsibilities that are deemed necessary to effectively develop practice and game plans, recruiting calendars and academic and community related programs.

This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating is select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.50

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and a minimum of one (1) year of comparable professional experience coaching at the collegiate level or higher. Division I level coaching experience preferred. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
