Job Description
The Sr. Human Resources Generalist position serves as the "Face of HR" to our employees and managers and acts as a human resources generalist within the Talladega, Alabama office. In addition to ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations, this position is responsible for the execution of HR initiatives at the facility, investigating and resolving employee issues, and the administration of HR process such as training, succession planning, culture, and act as a liaison for the recruiting process.
Responsibilities
The Sr. Human Resources Generalist will provide both tactical and strategic support. Day-to-day activities will be concentrated in the following areas:
Recruiting Support
- Work with management to understand and execute against the site’s hiring forecast.
- Assist with writing and reviewing job descriptions. Convert descriptions into attractive job postings and determine effective recruitment sources.
- Build relationships with local technical schools and other sources to improve and build a proactive talent pipeline.
- Act as a liaison to assist the site and the recruitment team with a smooth talent acquisition process
- Oversee the onboarding and assimilation process for new hires
Employee Relations
- Collaborate with management to create a positive and productive work culture.
- Coordinate activities and connection throughout the organization to drive a high level of commitment and employee engagement.
- Coach management on how to proactively manage individual and team performance.
- Conduct exit interviews with departing employees, tracking trends, and advise management on necessary action.
- Conduct thorough employee investigations as needed.
Employee Development
- Work with various stakeholders to create and coordinate an effective employee onboarding process.
- Develop and deliver training presentations as requested.
- Conduct succession planning and talent review sessions for the site.
- Collaborate with business leaders and employees to establish a career progression model and identify related development opportunities.
Payroll and Benefits Support
- Provide appropriate information to enable timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Answer employee questions regarding payroll and benefit matters, invoking the assistance of appropriate team members when necessary.
- Assist employees with benefit enrollment questions at time of hire and during annual enrollment process.
- As appropriate, schedule on site wellness initiatives and provide oversight for the onsite medical clinic.
Other Activities
- Develop professional relationships with managers and employees in order to proactively be aware of issues and opportunities at the site.
- Provide HR guidance for culture, community, and charity activities when appropriate for the site.
- Ensure compliance with regulations at all applicable levels when carrying out employment actions such as hiring, promotion/demotion/transfer, and separation.
- Carry out appropriate reporting functions for the business unit, the HR department, and applicable third parties.
- Ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
- PHR / SPHR Certification a plus
- 5 or more years of human resources generalist experience preferred
