Job Summary:

Bechtel has a strong commitment to protecting people and the environment as part of its mission, and is known for industry leadership in Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H).  ES&H teams are comprised of three distinct disciplines that support our ES&H Management System and processes at project sites and offices. These teams include environmental scientists, safety specialists, and industrial hygiene scientists. Collectively, they provide technical guidance and perform planning, risk assessment, inspections and monitoring, training, and data management. 

The Night Shift ESH Lead helps develop and execute the project Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) program across a specific area of a project.  This involves administrative and field tasks per established industry practices, procedures, and regulatory and Bechtel requirements. The position requires practical application of occupational safety and related disciplines for managing environmental, safety and health aspects of a project or facility. The position reports to an ES&H Manager and coordinates with the Area Construction Manager. #LI-AM3

 

Major Responsibilities:

• Executes assignments during the night shift involving significant safety and health issues and risks, using judgment and experience in the application of scientific techniques and plans to reduce the potential for adverse impacts. 
• Supervises assigned EHS personnel and facilitates their development through assignments, coaching, and mentoring.  
• Interprets requirements and provides technical assistance within ES&H teams and to other project groups regarding risk and hazard assessment, plan preparation, and ES&H program execution. 
• Research issues and regulatory requirements, performs studies and risk assessments, and prepares documentation and reports. 
• Performs safety studies, risk assessments, and other safety and health reviews. 
• Implements the project Safety and Health Management Plan, associated plans and procedures, and oversight during night operations. 
• Helps establish emergency preparedness
