Job Summary
As the Executive Chef at the Savannah College of Art and Design, you will lead all kitchen operations while upholding the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. You’ll manage menu planning, food preparation, and staff training in alignment with corporate guidelines. This role is ideal for an energetic, hands-on culinary leader with a passion for excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute standard and modified menus following established nutritional and presentation guidelines

Ensure adherence to standardized recipes, portion control, and plating standards; perform routine quality tasting

Train kitchen staff in food preparation, equipment operation, safety, and sanitation practices

Create and oversee cleaning and maintenance schedules for all kitchen equipment and areas

Manage inventory of food and supplies to ensure availability while controlling costs

Oversee proper handling and repurposing of leftovers in compliance with company policy

Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations (local, state, federal)

Promote and enforce safety procedures, including incident reporting protocols

Participate in departmental meetings and professional development initiatives
Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent experience

3–5 years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience (based on education/training level)

Strong catering and high-volume foodservice experience preferred

Proficiency in batch and institutional cooking

Exceptional culinary skills and a hands-on management style

In-depth knowledge of food trends, cost control, production methods, and presentation

Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, email, and internet use

ServSafe certification highly preferred
