Position Summary

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Measurement Systems Group. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Computer Engineering or related field. In this position, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary and highly technical team, collaborating with peer engineers to prototype and develop cutting-edge industrial radar, 3D time-of-flight, and lidar measurement sensors. You will play a key role in all stages of product development, from initial technology evaluation and prototype design to successful release of final product.

This position reports to the Senior Technologist and is located onsite at our corporate headquarters in Plymouth, MN.           

What You’ll Be Doing

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize industrial radar, 3D time-of-flight, and laser measurement sensors.
• Design and optimize software for microcontroller based embedded systems to meet challenging sensing performance requirements.
• Perform simulations and analysis to optimize sensor performance and ensure reliability in various conditions and environments.
• Provide technical expertise and support to address any field application
• Actively engage in all stages of product development, from conceptualization and prototype design to final product release.
• Stay current with new sensing technologies to enhance product capabilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or related field 

Preferred

•  3+ years of related engineering experience
• Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
• Strong verbal communication, data analysis, technical documentation, and presentation skills
• Experience in product design for industrial applications
• Experience planning and leading projects
• Able and willing to take ownership, adapt to changes, and be flexible in a fast moving, dynamic engineering environment
• Design and programming experience with functional (e.g., C) and OO design and programming languages (e.g., C++)
• Working knowledge of development tools (compilers, emulators, configuration control, etc.)
• Software design and programming of embedded software systems using flash-based microcontrollers, FPGA or DSP hardware
• Non-real time and real-time OS experience, with understanding of multi-threading, inter-process communications, interrupt handlers, and related topics
• Proficiency with accepted software development processes such as CASE tools, configurator management tools, and general software development standards
