Software Engineer (Hybrid)

Captivation Software is looking for a Software Engineer to design, develop and implement complicated and difficult software capabilities for computer based systems. Will work with other talented engineers with modern tools and technologies. Work is performed in a hybrid environment with a great team in our Columbia, MD office. Could had travel to DC up to one day a week when needed.

• Must also possess strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
• Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development.
• Will work in a fast-paced, small business environment with our talented team.

Requirements

Security Clearance:

• A current U.S. Government security clearance is not required on day 1, but will be processed for a Secret level and therefore must be a U.S. Citizen. Can also consider candidates with a Secret or TS level clearance as well.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5 years experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Experience in designing enterprise APIs
• Experience in RESTful web services
• Experience in Microservices architecture
• Experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle
• Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting
• Experience with the Linux operating system
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven)
• Must be able to work a hybrid schedule at Columbia, MD office.
• Must be able to go on customer site in DC once a week.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure)
• Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr)
• Scripting experience is a huge plus.
• Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus.
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.)

• Annual Salary: $125,000 - $250,000 (Depends on the years of experience)
