Under the supervision of the Director of Day Habilitation Services, the Job Coach is responsible for assisting individuals who are currently employed and/or actively seeking gainful employment with gaining employable skills by providing on site learning (including but not limited to; observing, physically assisting, prompting, redirecting, coaching, etc.). The specific duties of the Job Coach are specifically tailored to the skills, limitations and position in which the program participant has gained employment and/or is seeking employment.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
-Knowledge of OPWDD principles, procedures, and best practices.
-Promote, train and educate peers and persons supported to fulfill their responsibilities
-Maintain professionalism and compliance with all policies and procedures at all times.
-Act as the liaison between the person supported, the organization and the employer
-Attend all life plan meetings, staff meetings and trainings assigned
-Demonstrated ability to collaborate across all platforms internally and externally to achieve optimal results.
-Maintain open lines of communication while establishing and maintain relationships through networking with other public and private organizations to enhance the services available to the people we serve.
-Represent the organization in the community and while networking with local businesses
-Complete and ensure accurate and timely documentation for individuals supported.
-Report on individual’s performance, skills and interest on an ongoing basis to reassess job placement and opportunities as skills enhance and interest shifts.
-Specific job duties and responsibilities of subjected to be change at any time based on the needs of the employer and person supported.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
- Experience working with the ID/DD population
- A minimum of one-year experience providing vocational or pre-vocational services to individuals with disabilities
- Flexible and Adaptable to in any environment
- Experience working autonomously in absence of managerial staff
- Maintain relationships with businesses and community members while problem solving should issues arise
- Capability of providing sufficient support to persons supported in a work environment without requiring accommodations that would limit and/or hinder person supported from receiving adequate support to maintain employment.
