Job Description
- Responsible for nightly drives of fleet units outfitted with Advanced Mobile Leak Detection (AMLD) Equipment.
- Will be responsible for picking up the AMLD Vehicle, completing startup activities of leak detection equipment, documenting atmospheric conditions, driving to appropriate survey area, and completing necessary nightly survey.
- The employee will then return the vehicle to the pickup location, plug it in to charge and end their shift.
- Maintain strong communication with Project Manager on success of nightly drives and any concerns from each drive.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
- The main duty is to drive the AMLD-equipped vehicles to survey designated areas of the natural gas system.
- Drivers will follow specific maps provided by Xcel Energy to ensure comprehensive coverage of the survey areas.
- Surveys must be conducted after dark to obtain better readings of potential gas leaks.
- Drivers will collect the vehicles from the nearest Service Center.
- Will turn on the equipment, drive to the mapped area, and conduct the survey.
- The primary task is to collect data; no technical analysis is required from the drivers.
- After completing the survey, drivers will return the vehicles to the service center and plug them in to charge.
- In case of an alarm indicating a significant leak, drivers must stop and contact the gas dispatch team, who will handle the situation.
- MUST be available 24/7 to respond to any critical alarms.
- Accurate and thorough data collection during each survey run.
- Immediate reporting of any alarms to the gas dispatch team.
- Ensuring vehicles are returned to the service center and properly charged after each shift. This role is crucial for the success of the pilot project, providing essential data to help Xcel Energy enhance the safety and reliability of its natural gas system.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- The work schedule is generally Monday through Friday 9:00 pm to 5:00 am. Training will be during the day.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check and security clearance.
- CDL and Delivery driving experience a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with following routes and maps is essential.
- Ability to follow maps and navigate delivery areas effectively.
- Experience using navigation software like Google Maps or Apple Maps is beneficial, as it is like the Picaro software used in this role.
- Experience using tablets and specific software applications, including Picaro, AMLD leak survey software, and PQ software.
