We’re searching for a Staff APQP Quality Engineer to ensure the highest levels of quality and performance from our CMs (during manufacturing and sustaining operations) and customers, Aurora in-house manufacturing (for early R&D builds) and Aurora Hardware design and development via quality process development, quality planning, core quality tools (e.g. APQP/PPAP) and compliance to quality standards (e.g. ISO 9001).

In this role, you will

  • Be responsible for providing quality planning, coordination and execution support for our Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and customers. 
  • Work closely with design engineering, internal manufacturing, purchasing, supply-chain, CMs and OEMs/customers to ensure proper execution of agreed quality plans, including APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing CM/OEM quality within the automotive industry.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of core quality tools (APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, MSA).
  • Manage the APQP process for assigned CMs/OEMs, ensuring timely submissions of deliverables.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to resolve CM/OEM quality issues, ensuring that containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action are performed following quality processes.
  • Conduct CM/OEM quality audits to assess potential risks of quality escapes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in a safety critical hardware industry (aerospace/defense, automotive, medical devices, etc).
  • Experience with the full product lifecycle (including development, verification, and market introduction).
  • Experience with AV or robotics.
  • Experience and familiarity with the Agile development methodology (no certification is required).

The base salary range for this position is $163,000.00-$261,000.00 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
