Job Purpose:

The Manager of Accounting Operations will lead the accounts payable and accounts receivable team, play a key role in finance transformation projects, and will oversee the accounting systems operations. The Manager of Accounting Operations will report directly to the VP, Finance. 

Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations 

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounts payable & accounts receivable team, including managing workflows to meet financial deadlines and produce accurate and timely receipts and payments.
  • Complete accurate and timely month-end close procedures. Includes monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analysis. 
  • Communicate with various teams to resolve any financial discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team on budgeting and forecasting for vendor specific expenses.
  • Produce and maintain existing and new policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Oversee the performance management and career development of direct reports.  
  • Provide temporary coverage for all accounts payable functions while AP Manager is out on leave. 

Finance Transformation

  • Play a key role in accelerating finance transformation projects.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and develop solutions.
  • Identify opportunities and manage ad hoc projects that map to  the company’s strategic goals around improving work processes and enhancing quality of service and productivity.
  • Support the  finance org design, roadmap and strategy specific to accounts receivable and accounts payable operations.

Accounting Systems Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the systems used by the AP & AR accounting team,  including Expensify, Bill.com, Zip, Stripe, Braintree, Carta (& applicable integrations with ERP Sage Intacct).
  • Identify, analyze, and manage upgrades, new software implementations, and other changes to improve the current accounting systems.
  • Interface with IT and other departments as they pertain to the accounting systems.
  • Setup and maintain user access to accounting systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to senior management
  • Proficiency in excel & Google suite applications
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong data entry skills with a keen sense of accuracy
  • Deep understanding of A/P & A/R systems transaction workflows within the general ledger to provide problem-solving for reconciliation issues
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a  passion for external best-practices and innovative trends in finance operations and a strong business acumen
  • Experience coaching or leading people
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and approachability
