The Prince William County Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking an administrative professional to serve as Fiscal Operations Specialist. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and self-motivated professional who can identify priorities and take initiative with minimal supervision. This position requires exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy of purchasing documentation, financial records, and compliance with County procurement policies. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, is essential for analyzing data, preparing reports, tracking procurement activities, and supporting the Department's fiscal operations. About This Role:


We’re looking for a highly organized and proactive professional to assist with supporting program analysis and providing support for data-driven decision making for the department. This role blends administrative coordination with strategic support to ensure the smooth delivery of procuring goods & services within the department.

A strong candidate should have hands-on experience with:

  • Managing a complex filing system
  • Coordinate and manage team meeting logistics, including scheduling, preparing agendas, and capturing accurate meeting notes and action items.
  • Maintaining and updating the department’s SharePoint communication site to ensure employees have access to timely and relevant information
  • Drafting and delivering clear, engaging communications tailored to diverse employee audiences
  • Excellent communicator with an ability to adapt tone and approach for a variety of individuals with varying personal and professional circumstances
  • Foster and maintain effective relationships with employees at all levels of the organization


Minimum Requirements:


High school diploma or G.E.D.  and 3 years of related experience supporting fiscal, administrative, or operational functions.


Preferences:


  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite – (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power Automate, Adobe and Visio)
  • Experience working with an Oracle based accounting system.
  • Experience providing support for data-driven decision making for a large organization.
  • Experience working with procurement policies that include a competitive bid process in the public sector.
  • Experience managing a high volume of purchasing card (P-Card) transactions.
  • Experience auditing accounts payable and procurement records
  • Experience managing a high-volume shared inbox.


Special Requirements: 


The Department of Parks and Recreation conducts DMV record checks on all licensed employees and criminal background checks on all hires 18 years and older. 


  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and meet PWC driving eligibility requirements. 
  • Must be able to pass local, state and federal background check.


Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 30 hours per week, 9-3 PM. This position is eligible for teleworking.


Starting Salary Range:

$31.90-$37.53
