JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Finance is a key member of the senior management leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial health and stability of the organization. This encompasses strategic financial planning, risk management, financial reporting, accounting, and budgeting across all subsidiaries.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Financial Planning and Risk Management
Lead the development and implementation of the organization's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall corporate strategy.
Oversee financial risk management, identifying and mitigating potential risks to the organization's financial stability.
Analyze financial performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
Advise senior management on financial matters and provide strategic recommendations to drive growth and profitability.
Financial Reporting and Accounting
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, complying with all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process.
Oversee internal controls and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Lead a team of financial professionals, including managers of corporate financial planning and analysis, accounting, and financial reporting.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Oversee the development and implementation of the annual budget for all subsidiaries.
Manage the forecasting process, providing regular updates to senior management on financial performance.
Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and taking corrective action as needed.
Develop and implement cost control measures to improve profitability.
Manage the electricity rate submission process for Hydro Ottawa Limited.
Other Responsibilities
Represent the organization in financial matters with external stakeholders, including committees, board and regulatory bodies.
Lead or collaborate on other financial projects as required.
Perform other duties as required.
