We are seeking a Full-Time Facilities Manager to ensure that the Maintenance Department provides the maintenance, repair and minor construction of building structures and systems vital for a safe, reliable, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews and evaluates safety performance of employees and analyzes safety programs routinely for efficiency.
Reviews and evaluates performance of employees and processes integral to the departments’ success.
Review/update policies and procedures for Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management.
Provides training to meet the developmental and learning needs for the organization.
Supervises and directs assigned staff including interviewing and hiring of new staff, coaching and discipline activities.
Manages the departments’ preventive maintenance program and the computerized maintenance management system.
Ensures required documentation is properly maintained for CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies.
Oversees the development and updates maintenance and operating procedures for building systems throughout the Cecil campus.
Takes a positive approach to all aspects of managing to create and maintain a safe, productive, and quality oriented work environment.
Manages minor renovation projects as assigned.
Coordinates maintenance activities with those of other departments and agencies outside of the hospital.
Manages ILSM tracking, approval and permits.
Conducts preconstruction risk assessments.
Manage facilities contracts in MediTract.
Participates in the planning, execution and evaluation of major projects performed under construction contracts.
Keeps the Cecil Campus Director of Support Services advised of developments related to assigned functions.
Performs walk-around inspections and periodically inspect buildings, systems and equipment.
Participates in and contributes to management and professional committees and special meetings at the hospital.
Assists in or prepares special studies and reports.
Prepares and manages annual operating and capital budgets and monitors throughout the fiscal year to meet goals.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or related field desired.
- State of Maryland Grade 1 Stationary Engineer License preferred.
- ASHE – Certified Healthcare Facilities Management (CHFM) certificate, required within one year of hire.
- Supervisory experience in hospital facilities management, plant, or a multi-trade maintenance organization.
- Experience with managing operating and capital budgets.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
Knowledge of project management, maintenance procedures, and the budgeting process.
Knowledge of maintenance equipment and preventative maintenance procedures
Knowledge of applicable safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment including applicable OSHA regulations.
Knowledge of personnel management philosophy, procedures, and practices.
Knowledge of supervisory principles and techniques.
An active working knowledge of Joint Commission Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management standards.
An active working knowledge of Life Safety codes (NFPA101) and NFPA 99.
Knowledge of MS Office programs and ability to learn Christiana Care specific programs.
Skill in oral and written communications. Must be able to hear and orally communicate the English language on the telephone.
