Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Competitive & Recreational Sports, the Head Coach of the Men’s & Women’s Club Golf team will lead a competitive program within the NCGGA framework. The Head Coach will assist in oversight of several aspects of the University’s competitive club golf programs, including planning and conducting practices, strategy, player development, recruitment, budget management, travel coordination, academic monitoring, compliance, and supervision of team support staff. The Head Coach is responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, supporting student-athletes' well-being and academic success, and implementing disciplinary measures when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the growth and development of a successful competitive club golf program, including the training and development of high-quality student-athletes, as well as demonstrating athletic excellence.
- Organize and supervise practices, tournaments, and team meetings.
- Provide coaching and development to the student athletes during the conduct of all home and away competitions.
- The team practices 2-3 times per week and competes most weekends during the season, in the Fall and Spring. There are 3-4 travel weekends during the season, which may include Fridays. The head coach is expected to attend all practices and competitions.
- Develops and executes a strategic recruitment plan to maintain a full competitive roster, utilizing social media, high school outreach, and on-campus events.
- Works with Club Sports leadership staff & student leaders to organize all home events and manage travel for away contests.
- Provide fiscal oversight for the program, including the management of the operating budget, fundraising initiatives, and travel expenses.
- Work closely with the Club Sports office to complete required compliance paperwork.
- Manage and lead program support staff, including but not limited to assistant coaches, team managers, e-board members, etc.
- Manage student-athlete eligibility, including academic standards and RMU Club Sports requirements. Implements disciplinary actions as needed.
- On occasion may need to drive on behalf of the University.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma or GED is required; a college degree is preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of coaching at the high school or collegiate level is required.
- Familiarity with the recruitment process for college athletes, including player evaluation and outreach

- Commitment to league and university rules
