Summary:
The Intellectual Property (IP) Docketing Clerk is responsible for reviewing incoming mail and prosecution documents, inputting documents and deadlines into the docketing system, and calculating procedural deadlines, along with performing general office tasks. The IP Docketing Clerk must be familiar with working in a fast-paced environment and ensuring that deadlines are accurately maintained. At least 5+ years of experience working in an IP assistant or docketing clerk with an Intellectual Property team required.
This full-time position will work on-site in our Charlotte, North Carolina office.

Job Classification:
Reports and is responsible to the Intellectual Property and Technology Service Line Leader and Office Administrator.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Calculate deadlines based on applicable rules, statutes and procedures.
- Review incoming and outgoing communications to ensure deadlines are calculated and docketed accordingly.
- Information, electronic file, and database maintenance.
- Provide general office support and assistance.
- Utilize USPTO PAIR and TSDR, WIPO, E-Space, and foreign databases to perform routine status checks of patent and trademark applications.
- Prepare dockets and IP listings for clients and attorneys.
- Manages in-bound and out-bound client file transfers.
- Manages patent maintenance fees and foreign annuity payments.
- Preferred experience with CPI and Anaqua PATTSY Wave IP docketing systems.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned and appropriate to the IP department.
- 5+ years of experience working in an IP assistant or docketing clerk with an Intellectual Property team required.
- Experience with IP docketing software CPI preferred.
- BA/BS degree or Paralegal certificate preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Organization, attention to detail and time management.
- Standing and walking regularly, up to two hours per day.
- Sitting position static for up to one-half hour at a time, up to six hours per day.
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Bending and stooping regularly, up to one hour per day.
