About the role

We are hiring a full time Manager, Environmental Compliance to support our growing water and wastewater operations in Texas. This position will report to the Round Rock, TX office and will require occasional travel throughout the central Texas area.   

 

This position is responsible for the performance of comprehensive environmental management and regulatory compliance programs, as well as water/air quality programs.   Provides technical assistance and regulatory support to staff and other business units, relating to environmental compliance, on water/air quality, treatment, permitting, laboratory management, and regulatory compliance issues.  Ensures company policy on water quality and related environmental matters is followed.

What you’d be responsible for:

 

  • Provides support to staff and advises other company employees regarding operations with potential to impact water quality and/or environmental compliance.  May supervise others.
  • Analyzes and provides input to other business units on water quality and/or environmental matters.
  • Identifies and develops opportunities to enhance the company’s brand through the development of innovative and sustainable environmental solutions
  • Oversees and administers company programs to ensure the security of sources and facilities and to protect customers against environmental threats.
  • Continually reviews new and/or modified water quality and environmental regulations, provides input to the local and federal regulatory process, and ensures programs are in place to maintain compliance thus maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Represents the company to public, health officials, and regulatory community in technical areas related to water quality, public health and environmental issues.
  • Establishes, reviews, approves water quality-related reports, projects, and overall operational procedures. Develops programs to dispose or recycle water and wastewater residuals.
  • Develops O&M budget and operates to stay within the budget.
  • Assists with development and supports EPCOR with cross-connection and backflow prevention programs and assures that programs satisfy regulatory requirements
  • Assists with the oversight of the Laboratory Licensure and Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Program.
  • Contributes to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback; supporting the creation of an open and honest work environment; cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to other members of the team and colleagues across the business.

  

What’s required to be successful:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major in Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or equivalent.  One year experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in environmental management of water resources and/or treatment or related technology development.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the following regulations:  Texas Water Code; Safe Drinking Water and Clean Water Act; State and Federal water regulations; Clean Air Act; Hazardous Waste & company procedures and general water treatment functions.
  • Strong management skills (e.g., planning, organization, direction of employees); strong verbal and written communication skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, persuasion, cooperation, ability to motivate, negotiate others). 
  • Problem solving and decision-making. 
  • Proficiency in general computer applications.
  • Knowledge of life sciences (biology and chemistry) theory and application to water treatment field. 
  • In-depth knowledge of water treatment technologies and water/wastewater operations and water quality monitoring and quality assurance programs. 
  • Knowledge of government regulations related to water quality and employee/community safety.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations impacting water resources and facility operations.
  • Knowledge of industry trade organizations to include participation in related activities aimed at improving water quality.
  • All candidates must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver license and have a good driving record.
