The Opportunity
The candidate selected for this position will work on the Enterprise Protective Security team in USAA’s Enterprise Chief Information Office. They will lead a team of security professionals providing protective security to personnel and assets at USAA's Home Office in San Antonio, Texas. They will develop and implement efficient security strategies using innovation and technology to further the Enterprise Protective Security team's mission.
As a dedicated Protective Security Manager, you will plan, organize, and implement Protective Security Operations at the team or campus level in response to emergency incidents involving workplace violence, active shooters, duress situations, medical emergencies, access control violations, and other security events in protection of the workforce. Assists in planning strategy to identify and mitigate risks to the Association. Performs as company liaison with local authorities during serious incidents. Provides administrative oversight for Protective Security Officers.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 5 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following location: San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Manages monitoring of alarms, cameras, fire alarm systems, and access control programs along with radio traffic, dispatching officers, coordinating response actions for critical incidents and conducts training drills to maintain officer proficiency.
- Authors, reviews, and approves written guidance, work products, incident reports, and conducts data analysis for alignment of resources.
- Performs Incident Command for critical incidents, manages Protective Security Officer response, and coordinates with local authorities to stop acts of violence, preserve life, and protect infrastructure.
- Develops security operations plans for special events and coordinates with Executive Protection and local authorities.
- Initiates investigations and inquiries into incidents of theft, vandalism, traffic accidents, and company policy violations, to include the preservation of evidence for subsequent investigative activity by Corporate Investigation of law enforcement.
- Conducts candidate interviews, selects individuals, assigns team members to shifts, approves PTO, and timesheets.
- Completes Defensive Tactics and Handgun training and Standards Evaluation, complies with USAA Force Continuum, issue/turn-in, storage/transportation procedures and maintains State handgun licensing.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field required; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) and Security Industry certification may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 6 years of experience in physical security, emergency response, military police, law enforcement, or combat operations.
- 4 years of experience in a role accountable for teams responding to active shooter, active assailant, or acts of violence.
- 2 years of direct team lead, supervisory or management experience.
- Must possess valid state driver's license.
- Job Offer contingent on passing an MMPI evaluation.
- Initial and continued employment conditional upon passing USAA’s Protective Security training standards within 3 attempts (for initial and follow-on training cycles) and obtaining required state armed security license and/or certification for assigned post state within 6 months.
- Texas security commission OR Florida security D and G licenses OR Arizona armed guard training
