Join Siemens Healthineers in Newark, DE as a Senior Customer Workflow Innovation Test Design Professional on our Customer Workflow Testing team within Systems Engineering.
In this role, you’ll serve as the customer’s voice within R&D, designing and executing real-world lab workflows that reflect the dynamic landscape of modern diagnostics. From high-throughput reference labs processing thousands of samples daily, to agile regional labs and cutting-edge specialty labs, your work will simulate the full spectrum of laboratory operations.
Your insights will help engineering teams anticipate how our systems must perform across diverse lab environments, regulatory requirements, and workflow strategies—well before a single patient sample is run. You’ll play a key role in shaping smarter, more adaptable solutions that meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers and patients worldwide.
This is classified as 100% onsite as it requires physical presence in the laboratory to perform essential job duties
Your role:
- Embedding the customer perspective early in the design cycle—translating real laboratory workflows and personas into actionable insights for R&D teams.
- Proven ability to lead initiatives that enhance workflow automation and operational efficiency using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and middleware applications.
- Proficient in developing and managing real-time dashboards to monitor analyzer performance, turnaround times, and workload distribution.
- Skilled in designing and applying rules-based decision support for autoverification, reruns, and reflex testing, streamlining review processes.
- Experience in data mining and analytics using LIS to support trend analysis, epidemiology reporting, and test utilization reviews.
- Ability to translate complex lab workflows into technical specifications.
- Championing continuous improvement by piloting new technologies and techniques that raise the bar for efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Supporting design validation activities as needed to ensure regulatory and quality requirements are met.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on understanding of clinical laboratory operations and diagnostic workflows.
- 5+ years' experience in design validation, informatics systems testing, or equivalent lab diagnostic work in a regulated environment (FDA/ISO 13485/CLIA).
- Curiosity and aptitude for new technologies such as AI/ML, advanced analytics, or test automation frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex lab realities into clear engineering insights.
- Ability to work onsite in a laboratory environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Desired Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with Siemens Atellica Solution instrumentation and Siemens Automation/IT products.
- Familiarity with Siemens Atellica Automation/IT products or comparable Automation/IT solutions.
- Experience applying Agile or iterative development practices.
- Background in exploratory testing or implementing automation in complex, software-enabled instruments.
- Exposure to AI-driven data analysis or workflow modeling is a plus.
- Experience collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams (assay, software, hardware, service).
