JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis will be an important member of the Finance team supporting and managing the financials for our Development organization. This role will be working closely across the matrix of development functions and programs. This individual serves as the resident expert in business and financial matters, including Clinical Trial accruals, Budgeting, Contracting, etc with a focus on continuous improvement. They will be the business partner of the program and clinical study leads for delivery of the program. This individual is detail oriented, comfortable with large datasets, and has experience working with monthly close. #LI-Remote

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Business Partner with operations staff providing financial and business leadership with outstanding customer service to lead the organization in understanding of financials and impact of decisions
• Key driver in improving monthly financial reporting, its delivery and providing variance analysis. Develop a good understanding of key performance drivers & issues relating to budget and actual results ensuring key issues, risks, and business drivers are understood and highlighted to management
• Responsible for maintaining Clinical Trial accrual models for on-going and new clinical studies with monthly activities, and generate estimate for accounting close
• Ownership of monthly close, quarterly forecast, annual budget, and long-range plan processes; include continuously refine spend forecast, provide information to help make informed decision and recommendations, and generate all required reports, schedules, and presentation materials for development departments.
• Prepare and present monthly management reporting package, including, but not limited to, operating results, budget and forecast variances, R&D project spending and status updates, etc.
• Collaborate with the Accounting team to continuously strive efficiency in the model and process to shorten month-end close while adhering to SOX internal controls framework
• Active participant in portfolio, study team and department meetings providing regular update to status of actuals, forecast and plan
• Vendor relationship management and interactions for key R&D Clinical vendors to ensure proper vendor reporting, contract management and financials
• Administrator of financial planning and reporting system, which includes assuring data is complete, accurate and timely delivered; validate and troubleshoot variances and inaccuracies as needed
• Ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA or BS degree with a minimum of 4-6 years of relevant progressive Operations, Finance or Accounting experience required. Biotech or pharmaceuticals industry experience is a plus
• Able to extract pertinent data from ERP system to support above duties, comfortable working with large data sets
• Fluency with analyzing and interpreting financial statements
• Strong analytical, financial modeling and problem-solving skills
• Adapts to change. Strives for continuous improvement
• Ability to complete projects timely and accurately
• Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal (team player/ability to work cross functionally) skills required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
