About the role

GSK is currently looking for a Calibration Technician join our team in Rockville, MD. Metrology Technicians will have increasing levels of calibration responsibility. Technicians are responsible for calibrations, service calls, and in-house repairs throughout the facility. They perform work in calibration trades and perform routine equipment calibrations, assist in scheduling, troubleshooting and repair. They may work from rough sketches and drawings. They must also understand, and abide by, applicable cGMP requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the calibration program to ensure operational requirements are met.
  • Provide technical instrumentation support for manufacturing, lab, validation, and support personnel.  Assist in the scheduling and coordination of calibration activities with manufacturing, lab, and support personnel.  
  • Assist in scheduling and coordination of outside services for support of the calibration program.
  • Receive and complete training for calibration procedures, documentation, and cGMP operation.  
  • Review and recommend revisions to calibration documentation and SOP’s and assist in implementation.  
  • Assist in ensuring accuracy of the calibration database and associated files. · Support of operator and instrumentation user training.  
  • Support manufacturing efforts.  
  • Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation as required.
  • Support Validation activities.

Perform assignment as designated by the Metrology Manager or Supervisor. Work well with others and independently in combination of environments including the Metrology shop, manufacturing suites, and analytical labs. The typical work hours for this position are a standard workday and 40-hour work week, with shift work being a possibility depending on manufacturing demand. There is also an on-call rotation consisting of 24/7 support for alarm monitoring and emergency services. Some travel may be required

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of calibration or GMP experience

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Prefer some college or trade school certification (or equivalent experience)
  • Must have valid Driver's License
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds Ability to read and operate operator interface terminals

The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $26 to $43 taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
