About the department

Cloudflare’s IT + Enterprise Engineering, Planning and Governance Team is a crucial pillar of the CIO Organization. It manages programs and initiatives across IT Infrastructure, Enterprise Systems, and Enterprise Engineering to enable Cloudflare internal teams to operate most efficiently. The team establishes end-to-end governance principles and frameworks, leads business partnering, drives program planning, execution and demand capacity management. 

What you'll do

We are seeking an IT Business Partner, Finance & Legal Systems to lead a variety of strategic systems initiatives within Cloudflare. The IT business partner (ITBP)will serve as a “trusted advisor,” the strategic interface between Finance, Legal, IT, and Enterprise Engineering with the focus on business technology strategy development, solutions discovery, risk and service management. The ITBP will be the main technology functional expert for all finance and legal internal business systems, having a holistic view of the end-to-end process from a systems point of view. This means that while the role will primarily be a partner to the finance and legal teams, it would also have to partner with other functions, like People/Payroll, GTM, and  Post-Sales to ensure the overall finance and legal process operates effectively and cohesively.  The ITBP will proactively share knowledge of technology risks and opportunities to build competitive advantage and improve efficiency and effectiveness of business units. The candidate will partner with business leadership and other key stakeholders to define opportunities and identify and prioritize projects based on predefined criteria.  

• Operates as the main point of contact to both the business (finance and legal teams) and the IT delivery teams for overall Finance & Legal business system roadmaps ensuring the focus is on business scalability while limiting IT risk. 
• Gathers and documents business requirements and user stories through in depth stakeholder interviews and subject matter expert (SME) deep dives.  Obtains the necessary stakeholder sign-off before transferring projects to delivery teams.
• Provides knowledge transfers to technical teams and technical program managers (TPMs) ensuring clean and clear requirements are understood by those responsible for project management of implementation and go-live.
• Responsible for the finance and legal system portfolio and plots roadmap deliverables using a blend of business priority, end-to-end product strategy, and a holistic consideration of Cloudflare’s techstack.
• Maintains routine communication with the finance and legal teams and the IT delivery leads ensuring constant alignment on system roadmap placement and timelines.
• Track the technology market discovering and staying attuned to newly released finance and legal applications and/or new product capabilities that align with existing technology in Cloudflare’s techstack.
• Jointly designs a long term vision of the finance and legal systems landscape along with based on business needs, and facilitates decision making relating to any trade-offs or shifts in priorities.
• Partner with the TPMs to maintain constant alignment of finance and legal projects’ health including leading any discussions regarding roadblock removals, risks, and dependencies.
• Adheres to and instills the IT Planning and Governance structure including hosting monthly finance and legal steering committee meetings, meeting with functional leaders on a routine basis, and providing routine alignment between finance, legal and IT teams
