About the role
JOB DUTIES
- Continually: Prioritize and process approved purchase requisitions; place purchase orders, source new items and evaluate alternate sources for obtaining regularly purchased items.
- Continually: Provides bid documents or specifications to vendors as required.
- Continually: Investigates, collects bids on and evaluates new products and vendors and obtains feedback on product or vendor from Storeroom Manager and end users.
- Continually: Inputs and processes purchase orders, shipping memos, quotes and backorder reports.
- Continually: Communicates pertinent information on purchases to the appropriate departments including delivery method and timeframe, cost and specifications, and invoicing or delivery issues.
- Continually: Oversees the repair process; maintaining list of repair items, timeframe for completion, cost estimates and authorizations for repair or replacement.
- Continually: Responsible for anticorruption compliance as set forth in the Anticorruption Manual. Specific anticorruption responsibilities include:
- Following the travel and entertainment, gift giving and related expense reporting guidelines.
- Ensuring all international purchases are made in accordance with the due diligence and contract guidelines.
- Ensure Import/Export compliance is maintained
- Continually: Oversees and directs the work of the Buyer and/or Junior Buyer
- Occasionally: Performs the duties of the Purchasing Manager in his/her absence.
- Frequently: Arrange for emergency pickup of parts as needed.
- Occasionally: Performs the duties of the other purchasing functions in his/her absence.
- Occasionally: Inspects parts and equipment that have been received in damaged condition.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Must possess strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledgeable in basic principles, practices, and negotiation skills with regards to purchasing, particularly as they relate to the industrial/manufacturing industry.
- Knowledgeable of and ability to effectively use the office equipment and software necessary to perform the duties of this position such as a PC, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Oracle.
- Must possess strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize work assignments and to manage multiple priorities.
- Must possess strong analytical aptitude and the ability to apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and report results.
- Ability to understand and apply oral and written instructions, guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to oversee and direct the work the Buyer and/or Junior Buyer.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with vendors, management and co-workers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Climbing: Frequently. Ascending or descending stairs on a daily basis.
- Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Occasionally. When needing to access office files, papers, etc.
- Standing/Walking: Frequently. On a daily basis, primarily within office building, but occasionally outside or within manufacturing plant.
- Reaching: Continually. To retrieve office supplies, equipment or files/paperwork.
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting: Occasionally. To move items within the office environment.
- Grasping: Continually. To move papers, files and office supplies or to write.
- Repetitive Motions of the hands/wrists/fingers: Continually. To perform office duties such as keyboarding, 10-key, telephone dialing, filing of documentation or operations of copier/fax machine.
- Sitting: Continually. Position is an office job and duties are primarily performed while sitting at a desk.
USE OF SENSES
- Talking in Person/By Telephone: Continually. To explain procedures, gather information, give directions. Ability to communicate with individuals of varying English speaking/understanding ability. Ability to communicate in either an office environment or on occasion, in a loud mill environment.
- Hearing: Continually. To listen, in person and over the phone, and to understand.
- Vision: Continually. To read and view computer monitor, data and figures and text.
ENVIRONMENTAL
Work is primarily performed indoors, in an office environment and is sedentary in nature. It may occasionally require the ability to exert force or to push/pull up to 50 pounds, and/or to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
A worker in this position will be subject to indoor environmental conditions; however, there could be occasions when worker may need to enter the mill, where they will be exposed to outdoor and/or plant conditi
