Cedarville University is seeking to hire an Assistant Athletic Trainer for student athletes competing in the University’s athletic programs. This is a full-time (2080 annual hours) exempt position, reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Training & Sports Performance.
POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Athletic Trainer will help foster a distinctive culture in competitive athletics that commissions student-athletes to impact the world for Christ. The Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Assistant AD for Athletic Training and Sport Performance and provides care of student athletes competing in the University’s athletic program. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, documentation and rehabilitation of injuries within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program. The athletic trainer will also provide support in the strength and conditioning facility supervising performance training and assisting in technique coaching. The Athletic Trainer will also assist in the educational development of athletic training students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

• Communicate with the Team Physician on all health-related matters concerning all Cedarville University student athletes.
• Provide care to CU student-athletes as prescribed or directed by the Team Physician, appropriate physicians, and allied health professionals.
• Provide supervision at practice and home competition coverage of the Varsity and Junior Varsity men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports throughout the sports seasons. Coverage includes proper supervision of staff and athletic training students assigned to each ATC/ACI. Travel with varsity teams as required.
• Evaluate athletic injury severity; decipher disposition and management of injury providing emergency care when necessary.
• Document injuries to athletes using established record-keeping procedures.
• Submit and manage medical insurance claims for CU athletes sustaining injuries that qualify for Cedarville University’s secondary insurance policy.
• Be on call during the “non-traditional” practice seasons to care for injuries sustained by the athlete.
• Assist with the medical coordination and coverage of tournament events hosted by Cedarville University as assigned by the Assistant AD for Athletic Training and Sport Performance.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings where current issues and/or problems can be discussed.
• Develop strength and conditioning programs in conjunction with Coaches’ goals for assigned athletic teams.
• Collaborate with other Strength and Conditioning staff in provision of performance training and supervision of varsity strength training facility.
• Ensure a safe and clean training environment is always maintained in the varsity strength and conditioning facility.
• Lead in managing and scheduling the Varsity Athletic Training Facility
• Supervise student workers
• Submit and manage medical insurance claims for CU athletes sustaining injuries that qualify for Cedarville University’s secondary insurance policy.
Position Requirements:
• BOC certified
• Licensed to practice athletic training in the state of Ohio
• Approved Clinical Instructor
• Preferred Master’s Degree
• Preferred CSCS certification (or other NSCA, CSCCa, and NASM certification)
• Preferred CPR/AED Instructor Certification
• Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
