Job Description
NREL is seeking a motivated and talented Research Participant Program (RPP) Intern to join the Analytical Microscopy and Imaging Sciences Group. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of autonomous experimentation workflows using machine learning, robotics, and automated systems for materials science applications. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to work at the cutting edge of materials science and data science, with the potential to contribute to research that could transform our understanding of materials for energy technologies and next-generation computing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement machine learning for automated analysis of microscopy data
- Design and implement automated control systems for scientific instrumentation, including integration with robotic platforms
- Collaborate with researchers to design and conduct experiments to generate data for algorithm training and validation
- Participate in the development of data analysis pipelines and workflows
- Contribute to code development on NREL-hosted GitHub repositories
- Present and document findings in reports and presentations to the team

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.Undergraduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution.
