About the role

Description

The College of Business at University of Montana is seeking to fill a tenure-track position in finance at the assistant or associate professor level, with a fall 2026 start date.  Applicants will be expected to teach in the undergraduate program and possibly the MBA program, maintain an active research agenda, and engage in professional and service activities.  

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Finance, Business (with finance major/emphasis), or a closely related field (e.g., financial economics) from a school accredited by AACSB International or equivalent accrediting body prior to the starting date of employment. ABD will be considered if the degree will be completed within one year of hire
  • Demonstrated potential to publish or recent peer-reviewed journal publications in fields of expertise and an active, ongoing research agenda
  • High-quality teaching demonstrated by recent teaching evaluations and/or awards
  • Demonstrated engagement with the finance profession through relevant professional experience and/or a strong commitment to supporting positive student career outcomes

Preferred

  • Teaching experience or interest in principles of finance and in at least one of the following areas: banking/financial markets, investments, or corporate finance
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of a broad set of students (e.g., Native Americans, first-generation college students, non-traditional aged students, military veterans)
  • Relevant professional certification (i.e. CFA, CFP, or other)
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
