Position Summary:
This position plans, directs and manages the health and safety functions for the Project Management & Construction Health & Safety (H&S) Organization.
Recognizes, evaluates, recommends, conducts 2-year reviews, and implements policies and procedures to ensure awareness of and compliance with H&S requirements of the organization.
Responsibilities include PMC H&S staffing, management of, as appropriate, groups of H&S subject matter experts, field support, or other H&S professionals.
Effectively manages procedures, processes or programs including cross-cutting workflow, strategic planning and H&S Policy and Management System implementation.
Duties include management and leadership of employees, strategic direction & goal alignment, planning, budgeting, performance management, integration, customer service and human resource issues.
Manages H& S project support across NC/SC/FL/IN/KY with Project Directors/Project Managers to ensure proper level of H&S oversight is maintained and adjusted as required for project needs.
Responsibilities:
Manage assigned group within H&S functions, including strategic planning, budgeting, performance management, employee development and human resource issues. Develop processes, policy and related guidance; establish strategies, goals and performance expectations through collaboration within the department and with customers and stakeholders. Build H&S management system implementation capacity through leadership in mentoring and best practice sharing, assessing enterprise and business unit performance, and communicating plans and results to management and external stakeholders.
Work with departmental H&S leadership to develop common strategies and direction for the assigned group to achieve desired results. Provide leadership to identify, evaluate and focus on consistent H&S approaches and strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, to identify and manage H&S risks. Ensure conformance, effective integration and implementation of the H&S Policy and Management System.
Build effective relationships with management. Interface with internal customers, internal and external stakeholders, and others as appropriate for the position to ensure that the functions assigned to the group are provided and delivered as expected and in a cost-effective manner. Ensure strategic alignment of the H&S function with other groups in the company.
Key skills and experience: EHS experience in power plant construction and/or heavy construction
Basic/Required Qualifications:
Bachelors – Health & Safety, Engineering or Science
Required Work Experience – 7 plus years related work experience OR
High School/GED and 15 plus years related work experience.
