RN Case Manager – Observation Unit (Full-Time)
Location: Gainesville, FL
Shifts:

• Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Rotating Weekends)

• Evening Shifts: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM or 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM (Monday–Friday, No Weekends)

Compensation & Incentives:

• Hourly Pay: $32.91/hr – $45.25/hr (based on experience)

• Shift Differentials: +$2.00/hr Evenings | +$2.00/hr Weekends

• Sign-On Bonus: Up to $15,000

• Relocation Assistance: Available (case by case)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive RN Case Manager to support our fast-paced Observation Unit. In this high-impact role, you will manage care progression and discharge coordination for observation patients. You’ll collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams while using InterQual criteria to ensure timely, appropriate, and cost-effective care transitions. This role is ideal for an RN with strong critical thinking skills who thrives in dynamic environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Guide patient care progression using InterQual criteria

• Collaborate with providers on admission and discharge planning

• Perform medical and psychosocial discharge assessments

• Identify and escalate delays or care barriers

• Coordinate referrals to inpatient case managers or social workers as needed

• Facilitate discharge planning and optimize patient throughput

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, payors, and providers

• Document thoroughly and in compliance with standards

• Support performance improvement and advocacy initiatives

Qualifications:

• Experience: 1+ year of recent RN Case Management or Insurance Case Management experience required

• Licensure: Active Florida RN license or Compact RN license (must obtain FL license within 60 days)

• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA) – Required within 30 days

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred

• Additional:

  • Experience with InterQual required

  • Utilization review background preferred

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
