The Role
As the Trust and Safety lead at Block you are a proactive security leader with strategic vision, detail-oriented with operational skills and dedicated to creating programs that protect the company’s employees, assets, and facilities. You will contribute excellent judgment and are committed to confidentiality. You work effectively within your team and cross-functionally to solve difficult, time-sensitive problems quickly. You and your team will help identify, evaluate, and monitor risks that could affect business operations, propose preventative measures, and provide leaders the information they need to make critical decisions whenever possible. You are adept at building relationships across organizations and are skilled at collaborating with cross-functional teams to create innovative strategies and develop programs that drive sustainable effectiveness.
You Will
- Lead Block’s Global Trust and Safety function by developing the strategy, standards, and maintaining ongoing operations of physical security programs to protect employees, assets, and facilities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards across all regions of operation.
- Lead and manage a global team of workplace and safety professionals, fostering growth and development, accountability, and a sense of belonging. Develop internal and external capabilities needed to drive excellence, customer satisfaction, and a high performance culture.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and implement emergency response, crisis management, and disaster recovery plans.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging risks, and best practices and use those to continually improve Block’s safety programs, operations, and technology.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including company senior leadership, HR, Business Technology, Finance, and Security to align the workplace and safety strategy with business objectives.
- Establish and lead working groups to understand security strategies, business roadmaps, and advise on mitigating risks and recommended actions.
You Have
- 8-12 years of experience in a physical security, or security management role with 5+ years in a direct people management role
- Proven success mentoring & managing global teams and overseeing a multi-disciplinary security team.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in high-stakes situations
- Strong understanding of security technologies, risk assessment methodologies, and emergency management procedures.
- Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
- Proficient in access control systems and security management software.
- Regular travel between global offices required.
- Excellent, interpersonal, technical and analytical skills required.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills required.
