(Job #543111) Administrator IV, Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs, Salary Range: $9,625 - $30,896 monthly. Hiring Range: $10,588 - $14,701 monthly. Appointments are typically made at the beginning of the salary range. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, 12-month pay plan permanent position in Academic Personnel Services. This position is an Administrator IV in the California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP). Under this plan, incumbents are subject to normal management reviews and serve at the pleasure of the University President. Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Faculty Affairs is responsible for all academic personnel functions. The AVP serves as a member of the Provost's administrative team to provide leadership for initiatives within the division of Academic Affairs, with a full understanding of the mission of the university and the role of Faculty Affairs within that mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all academic personnel matters and for building relationships with and among the faculty and campus community.
  • Implements, interprets, and ensures compliance with, the Unit 3 (CFA) and Unit 11 (UAW) Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Provides oversight responsibility for all personnel processes related to academic employees (instructional faculty, librarians, coaches, academic related counselors, and academic-administrators). In addition, oversees personnel processes of Unit 11 employees (teaching associates, graduate assistants, and instructional student assistants).
  • Oversees personnel processes and procedures for faculty unit employees, including, but not limited to: appointment, paid and unpaid leaves (sabbatical, difference-in-pay, professional and personal leaves, sick leave and parental leaves), outside employment, and faculty retirement programs. Reviews recommendations on personnel actions for approval by the Provost.
  • Provides expert advice on contract and faculty personnel matters to the President, the Provost, deans, associate deans, and department chairs.
