National Service Line Administrative Leader – Neurosciences

About the role

Primary Purpose

A highly regarded health care executive, responsible for the administrative oversight for the Neurosciences clinical service line and responsible for the strategies, business plans, facilities, operations, and quality of care for patient care services across the full spectrum continuum of care. Works closely with Senior Leadership throughout the health system to ensure that the Neurosciences clinical services appropriately support the academic mission and programs of their services and operate in a manner that is financially successful. Serve as the senior thought leader, accountable for the overall strategic positioning and operational success for the Neurosciences National Service Line across the Enterprise. Accountable for maximizing value, access, quality, growth, care delivery, academic and research priorities, clinician well-being, and financial performance across the Enterprise. To achieve key system strategic priorities, develops clinical strategies and drives the execution of these clinical strategies, across all Divisions, Areas and venues of care, for a defined clinical National Service Line. Aligns enterprise-wide clinical service line strategy with organizational strategy. 

 

Major Responsibilities 

  • Serves as the senior administrative leader for a clinical service line to ensure administrative alignment of strategic priorities and goals with clinicians. Co-leads clinical service line leadership structure together with senior physician leader, to ensure participation in and ongoing dialogue between clinicians and key stakeholders in the execution of the strategic plan.
  • Provides internal direction and consulting services to stakeholders including Division, Medical Group and shared services leadership. Directs and controls clinical service line budget, allocation of resources of service line specific expenses, FTE utilization, and space to effectively meet goals and objectives.
  • Assesses technology, industry, professional and national developments, reimbursement trends, and market dynamics to develop short- term and long-term strategic plans. Responsible for maintaining a broad knowledge of clinical service line products and services and articulates the respective value propositions to enhance safety and health outcomes, reduce clinical variation, cost of care, and enhance revenue opportunities.
  • Serves as subject matter expert and Enterprise level resource within scope of defined clinical service line in collaboration with senior physician leader. Partners with the senior physician leader to establish, strategize, coordinate, and collaborate in the achievement of key performance metrics, goals and objectives.
  • Develops key performance dashboards and together with senior physician leader, accountable for analysis and interpretation of trends and action planning, to ensure goals and objectives are achieved. Leads workforce planning for the clinical service line in collaboration with senior physician leader, clinician recruitment, and division leaders. Partners with Divisions, Medical Group and Enterprise leadership to develop and execute workforce plans including candidate screening, interviews, contract discussions, and onboarding support.
  • Support merger and acquisition activity, including providing subject matter expertise on candidate assessments, facility and equipment needs, existing care gaps, competitive analysis, and workforce plan adjustments. Supports efforts to achieve specialty based national certifications and accreditations to improve clinical quality, enhance payor alignment, and public recognition.
  • Partner with Market Growth and Business Development to identify growth opportunities.
  • Establish strategy to increase clinician engagement and alignment in accordance with and beyond system standards and initiatives
  • Identifies transformational care opportunities, conducts analysis, and identifies programmatic strategies to achieve first to market care delivery models.
  • Directly responsible for Enterprise clinical level service line budget and indirectly supports annual facility and growth budgets for all venues where service line activities occur.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
