Intern with the WWF Cities Team

As an intern with us, you will play a key role in supporting the WWF Cities team’s work on program coordination, analysis, business development and financing solutions - all with a focus on sustainable urban development and climate action.
You will join for the fall term of 2026 and will focus on helping advance WWF international cities work within WWF Cities including support in evaluation, analysis and coordination of our flagship program One Planet City Challenge (OPCC). You will be a part of the international Cities team and work closely with our colleagues in financing and business development.
Examples of Tasks
Help coordinate the ongoing work of WWF Cities, including the final part of the current round of the One Planet City Challenge 2025-26.
Support in the analysis and evaluation of the One Planet City Challenge, helping in the crucial work to continuously develop the program currently involving more than 380 cities and local governments across the world.
Assist with logistics and communication around the global campaign - We Love Cities - running in over 35 cities across Latin America, Asia and Europe
Support the advancement of business plans and acting on financing opportunities for our work with cities and local governments. This includes support in coordination with WWF offices all over the world, writing applications, concept development and dialogue with donors.
Depending on your skills and interests, you may also assist in developing internal and external communications materials (e.g., reports, presentations, briefs)
Desirable qualifications
Relevant education in urban planning, business, economics or environmental sciences
Good analytical skills, experience with business case development
Excellence in English, both written and verbal (additional languages are a bonus)
Creative and solution-oriented with great attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and in groups is vital as much of our work is collaborative
Interest in working with sustainability, climate and urban issues
Time and arrangement
The internship starts August 31, 2026 and lasts 4-6 months.
The internship is 38 hours per week, and not suitable to combine with other full-time studies/work. We offer the possibility of hybrid work, with the flexibility to work both from the office and from home for up to fifty percent of your time each week.
Requirements for internship
To apply for an internship at WWF Sweden, you must be enrolled in a 30-credit internship course at a Swedish university or college, be completing a workplace-based learning (LiA) placement through a vocational college, or have a work-placement approved by the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen). You need to remain connected to one of these institutions for the entire duration of the internship.
We do not make any exceptions from the requirements.
We do not offer any salary or compensation during the internship.
WWF Sweden’s internship programme
