2025 LSI Perrigo Undergraduate Summer Fellowship Program

About the role

Description

The LSI Perrigo Undergraduate Summer Fellowship is open to all undergraduates currently enrolled in a Michigan college or university (not graduating before December 1, 2025). Priority is given to rising juniors and seniors.

Students interested in chemical biology, biochemistry, life sciences, cell biology, pharmacology or related fields, are encouraged to apply.

Applicants should have excellent academic records. Some experience working in a lab is preferred.

During the summer, fellows will engage in opportunities for science communication and chalk talks, mentor lunches, workshops, dinner outings in Ann Arbor, and other activities to build a network with other summer fellows, current students and postdoctoral researchers, Perrigo alumni, and the wider University of Michigan and Life Sciences Institute communities.

Fellows will work full-time (40 hours / week) in their assigned labs over the summer, present a poster, and participate in a research symposium to present their work to the campus community at the end of the program. Fellows and are expected to stay for the full duration of the program: June 2, 2025 through August 8, 2025. (Special allowances may be made for students whose school semester does not end before the program begins.)

A $6,000 stipend will be awarded to each fellow. In addition an $2,500 allowance is given for housing once the program begins.  

Funding may be subject to federal and/or state income taxes.

Please note that the payment for a Perrigo Fellow is processed through the University of Michigan student financial system. As such, the payment may impact financial aid awards for University of Michigan students. It is the sole responsibility of the individual hired as a Perrigo Fellow to investigate the impact, if any, of their pay on student financial aid, personal income tax or any similar situation. Qualifications

Any U.S. citizen or resident alien (green card) who is an undergraduate student at any Michigan college or university at the time of the fellowship is welcome to apply.

International students at Michigan colleges or universities should check with the international center at their home institution to ensure that their visa will allow participation.

An excellent academic record and participation in a wide range of campus activities are highly regarded but are not the sole criteria for the selection process. Some experience working in a lab is preferred.

  • Fill out the LSI Perrigo Application Form 
  • Upload Academic Transcripts: Upload a current copy of your undergraduate transcript(s) via the online system
    • Note: Transcript files should be named with the following structure: "Last Name, First Name - 'Name of College' Transcript" (ex. Jane Smith = Smith, Jane - Michigan Technological University Transcript)
  • Two Letters of Recommendation: Enter the names, email addresses, and a personal message for each of the two reference letter writers who agreed to submit letters on your behalf for the system to request letters of recommendation
    • You can submit your application before all recommendation letters are received, but all requests for letters must be sent out before you can submit your application.
  • Review and sign the Acceptance/Multiple Offer Agreement and submit your application for review.
