The Johns Hopkins University Center for Technology in Education (CTE) changes lives through knowledge that matters by designing, developing, and implementing learner-centered, technology-enhanced solutions to ensure equal access to education in classrooms and work settings across the globe. Our work at CTE involves many aspects of technology and innovation in education; from online learning platforms to systems that communicate or store data to digital tools educators need to successfully increase positive outcomes for all children, including those with disabilities. Our work focuses on landscape analyses, technical assistance, professional learning, and applied research techniques to build organizations’ capacity to promote inclusionary practices and ensure equity for all learners.


CTE is seeking a Sr. Outreach Associate to lead in-person and virtual community engagement with early childhood providers working in childcare centers, family childcare homes, before/after care programs, and public prekindergarten. This position will also engage with families of young children who are seeking childcare. The successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent time management skills. This role requires flexibility and a strong understanding of the needs of early childhood educators.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, coordinate, and execute outreach events for early childhood educators and families with young children.
  • Maintain a visible presence through participation in outreach activities.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with community-based organizations that support early childhood educators and families with young children.
  • Follow procurement procedures to purchase and manage outreach materials.
  • Develop relevant content for Maryland EXCELS social media accounts.
  • Plan and coordinate video content for early childhood educators and families with young children.
  • Document outreach activities and prepare post-event reports.
  • Lead, plan, coordinate, and execute events for Center engagement in collaboration with the Center Director.
  • Manage grant budget for outreach activities ensuring compliance with university and grant requirements, including vendor selection, purchasing, invoice processing.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating across teams.
  • Other outreach and engagement activities as assigned.


Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of early childhood landscape in Maryland.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and familiarity with virtual communication tools.
  • Understanding of social justice and equity frameworks specifically related to early childhood education and families with young children.
  • Knowledge of and experience with community resources that meet the social needs of Maryland’s vulnerable and marginalized populations.
  • Commitment to prioritize local businesses as well as minority- and women- owned businesses when selecting vendors.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of individuals, including early childhood professionals, state-sponsors, and heads of community-based organizations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Three years related experience required.
  • Additional related experience can substitute for education in accordance with the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • At least five years’ related experience.
