The Project Director - New Product Introduction/Columbia Fuel Manufacturing Expansion has overall accountability to bring online a state-of-the-art fuel manufacturing facility for Westinghouse Electric Company near Columbia, SC. From program direction to engineering, procurement and construction oversite, plant design, technology decision-making, and eventual turnover to operations, this is a critical role in executing a large capital project to achieve market and corporate objectives. The Program Director will also serve as the primary interface with a myriad of stakeholders, including federal, state, and local regulators, EPCM partners and other vendors, cross-business executives in customer delivery, finance, operations, and procurement. The Program Director will be supported by a dedicated team of individual workstream leaders.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Work within Westinghouse’s Global Operations Services guidelines for EPCM programs and within the New Product Introduction process to ensure that safety and quality are built into the program at each stage
  • Own the governance and execution of all workstreams related to the overall program
  • Build effective team capacity to plan and implement the Project, including EPC contractor and subcontractors. This includes definition and staffing of key project positions to ensure successful delivery such as leads for Project Controls, Licensing, Manufacturing Process Design (to include automation/digitalization), Scheduling, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS, etc.
  • Assure the capital project meets project objectives (including safety, quality, cost, schedule, and scope) by managing the development, design and execution in accordance with specifications and standards.
  • Provide project updates and communicates with clients, contractors, government or regulatory officials, CFFF Site Leader/License Holder and other stakeholders
  • Complete the accurate cost budgeting, estimating, forecasting and reporting of assigned projects using the I-EPC Project playbook and Westinghouse Project Management requirements as guide.  Responsible for all aspects of Project Management, policies, strategies and operating objectives for the Project from early planning & development to final execution
  • Analyzes and manages risks for the Project. Establish risk profile for the Project and proactively manage mitigation plans, dealing dynamically with unexpected outcomes to ensure success
  • Ensure all permits, licenses or certifications required by regulatory authorities are obtained
  • Establishes and enforces safety protocols and procedures to provide safe job sites and minimize risk
  • Coordinates the execution of the project using applicable company requirements and in conjunction with the selected EPC firm.
  • Participate in and lead assigned activities related to development of plans for projects under development, including Lessons Learned regarding project delivery models
  • Identify and support efforts towards project optimization and innovation via current industry lessons learned and other comparable initiatives
  • Exercises direct control of cost and execution of the Project to include completion of Flawless Launch stage gates. Reports on cost (including forecasting) and schedule attainment.  Communicates and resolves technical and commercial issues as related to project objectives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the WEC functional leadership from Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams for effective delivery of Project scope.  Engage to support and to use effective influence/communication to lift barriers to successful completion scope.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and assigned external customers and partners to identify and prioritize needs.  Establish and report on KPIs routinely to the LEU+ Project Steering Committee and other key stakeholders.
  • Establish, lead and coordinate cross-functional team to drive projects to ensure proper integration and alignment with broader company goals.  Participate in and leads development of people, organization, core processes, tools and necessary interfaces to accomplish activities/work scope.
