Job Summary

The Lead Pharmacy Technician at SafeDose serves as a subject matter expert and frontline leader within the pharmacy team, supporting the efficiency, quality, and accuracy of day-to-day operations. This role is designed for experienced technicians who have demonstrated initiative, accountability, and a drive to develop both personally and professionally. The Lead Technician will collaborate closely with pharmacy leadership to support departmental goals, resolve high-effort issues, provide scheduling support, and maintain outstanding customer service and workflow standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Support

  • Act as a subject matter expert across pharmacy processes, especially within CARE workflows.

  • Support and coach technicians to ensure consistent, high-quality standards are met.

  • Monitor and support completion of the following workflow tasks:

    • High-effort or complex patient issues (e.g., patient restarts, billing investigations).

    • Exceptions for incomplete or on-hold patient profiles.

    • New patient onboarding, follow-ups for temporary holds, and STAT/short supply orders.

    • Refill too soon, permanent off-cycle queues, and queue rejects.

    • Shipped not billed queue resolution.

Scheduling & Workflow Management

  • Assist in the preparation and oversight of technician scheduling.

  • Provide support and leadership to team members throughout shift operations.

  • Step into workflows or assist in any area of the pharmacy when needed.

Reporting & Communication

  • Create, interpret, and act on key Salesforce and operational reports (e.g., multiple orders, payments, meds on hold, operator hold time).

  • Demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills when working with internal departments and external customers.

  • Deliver timely follow-up and resolution to issues that impact pharmacy workflows or patient care.

Customer Service & Compliance

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.

  • Resolve billing or customer service issues efficiently.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations.

  • Follow SafeDose policies and procedures, including those related to safety, cleanliness, and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Tenure: Minimum of 6 months with SafeDose and at least 6 months in the current role.

  • Licensure: Active Indiana State Pharmacy Technician License or temporary license in good standing.

  • Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.

  • Experience: Previous leadership or mentorship experience strongly preferred. Must not be under current performance management or corrective action.
