The Program Coordinator in each of these areas supports the development, coordination, and implementation of administrative and fundraising activity of one or more pan-university campaign priorities with ambitious fundraising goals ranging from $600M to $1.5B by the end of the campaign.

In partnership with the Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, the Assistant Vice President for Campaigns, the Associate Vice President for Student Experience, and Directors of Development in Strategic Initiatives and Duke Campaigns, the program coordinator will plan and coordinate fundraising activities driving donor cultivation and recognition as well as events and special projects. The Program Coordinator will coordinate and support new and emerging volunteer structures and programming associated with campaign and strategic initiatives. They will liaise with a broad community of advancement, academic, and administrative teams to organize and actively contribute to the development and management of administrative systems and data collection/dissemination.

The Program Coordinator for each specialty area will report directly to the respective Director of Development.

Duke Campaigns: a team within AED responsible for designing and advancing the fundraising and engagement priorities of the university’s 10-year, multi-billion dollar campaign.

Strategic Initiatives: innovative new programs designed to tackle large-scale societal issues by leveraging philanthropy in a transformative way.

 

Work Responsibilities

Development Administration

  • Coordinate projects for the Strategic Initiatives and Campaigns teams in support of collaboration with other Duke Alumni Engagement and Development (AED) teams; undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools; and pan-university campaign priority areas.
  • Coordinate and contribute to planning and strategy meetings with development and/or academic leadership, including the Offices of the Provost and President.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress on fundraising goals, faculty hiring, and other key performance indicators to assist AVP and/or Director of Development.
  • Create and maintain a proposal and solicitation tracking system in accordance with prospect management practices and procedures.
  • Track and enter data in donor database on behalf of AVPs and Directors of Development. Utilize prospect management tools and best practices to regularly clean and ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with AED Special Events and other event services coordinators to design, plan, and coordinate on-campus and off-campus events and donor activities as they relate to campaign and strategic initiatives. These events will build awareness of pan-university campaign priorities within the Duke community;
  • Feature faculty, research, and student programs that align with pan-university campaign priorities; showcase campaign priorities and strategic initiatives as part of Duke University’s comprehensive fundraising campaign.
