Citi Finance is responsible for the firm’s financial management and related controls. The organization manages key Citi initiatives and deliverables such as the quarterly earnings process and ensuring compliance with financial rules and regulations through firm-wide collaboration and partnership. The team comprises of disciplines including Controllers, Financial Planning and Analysis, Investor Relations, Tax and Treasury as well as business/function-aligned CFO teams and the Citi Ventures organization.
The function’s primary objectives are to:
- Drive firmwide financial performance through improved returns, managing balance sheet, expenses, and capital,
- Improve financial operations through executing on Transformation deliverables and progressing the Strategic Ledger,
- Strengthen Resolution and Recovery Planning and CCAR,
- Strengthen engagement with regulators through responsiveness, forthrightness, and transparency,
- Partner with Citi’s 5 businesses on strategic initiatives, and
- Drive strong talent management through execution of VOE feedback and cultivation of a diverse and inclusive environment.
Job Description
This role reports directly to Citi’s Chief Financial Officer and is a senior member of the finance leadership team. The Finance Chief of Staff will support the CFO in effectively and efficiently managing day to day operations and executing strategic projects. This individual will partner closely with the Finance leadership team and senior leaders inside/outside of Finance to provide expertise, advice, and tools to enhance the effectiveness of the Finance organization. This role is responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a small team driving the overall administrative activities for Finance. The position requires a highly organized and motivated individual, who has demonstrated successes in complex organizational initiatives. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for regular status reports and presentations associated with strategic programs and lead certain projects to support Finance’s people and culture work – including some of Finance’s core talent programs. This person should have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with people across various functional departments and geographies to strategically facilitate project deliverables, solve problems and drive tangible outcomes.
This role partners with the Finance leadership team to ensure alignment and focus on key priorities and will be a liaison between the Finance organization and other internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities for the Chief of Staff include:
- Perform Business Management activities including providing financial, operational, and administrative oversight for the Finance organization including input on productivity initiatives, location strategy and business execution activities.
- Track progress of initiatives against Finance’s strategy and report on key performance measures.
- Collaborate with colleagues to shape and distill analyses of issues for CFO review, and continuously monitor and anticipate the competitive landscape.
- Analyze and synthesize information to make informed decisions as well as draft correspondence and presentations on behalf of the CFO to the key stakeholders including the Board.
- Anticipate and manage the preparation of internally and externally facing meetings and events, drive agendas for staff meetings, team offsites, earnings, CEO business reviews, and more, ensuring connectivity and analyzing key information for the CFO.
- Support the CFO in executing strategic projects; this includes working with organizations across the firm to drive project progress, organizing and participating in strategy offsites, and preparing materials for presentations to the Executive Management Team, Board and regulators.
- Advise and collaborate with CFO and Finance Leadership team on key decisions, projects, and crisis management.
- Own key Finance talent related programs including strategy and oversight of execution.
- Prepare the CFO for town halls, site visits, floor walks, community outreach, targeted group interactions across the Finance function and create the strategy and materials to ensure all events/interactions are impactful.
- Partners with Human Resources on performance and promotion processes and DEI and culture initiatives as requested by CFO.
- Manage comprehensive communications strategy covering both internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain a high level of integrity when working with complex and confidential information.
- Manage ad hoc and special projects as required by the CFO.
Qualifications & Proven Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA desired.
