Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our Federal Remediation Practice in our San Antonio office.
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, have excellent technical writing and editing skills, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers. For the right candidate, this position holds significant growth potential.
- Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge.
- Makes recommendations on work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own discipline.
- Makes recommendations on research requests, objectives, priorities, and timing.
- Assess need for change and recommends development of standards.
- Assess work against standards, objectives and specifications.
- Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Develops solutions which are highly innovative. Assignments are often self-initiated. Acts as advisor to management and clients. Oversees the work of less experienced scientists.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or closely related field
- 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Department of the Air Force Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) policies and guidance including development of briefings for Air Force Senior Leaders
Experience with Air Force and Army Environmental Remediation programs including program and project management
Expertise in understanding and executing Air Force contracts (performance-based remediation, optimization services, environmental services)
Collaboration with federal and state regulators on Air Force Environmental Remediation Programs
Familiarity with Environmental Remediation for Army and Air Force Active, Guard and Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) programs.
Expertise in leading teams in the development and publication of site characterization tools, and assessment capabilities.
