Summary

Develops partnerships throughout assigned business units to deliver value-added HR services to management and employees. Implements HR programs such as employee recognition/ engagement, performance/ learning management, career pathways, and new hire onboarding with a continuous improvement mindset.

Essential Job Functions


Be a champion. Educate and encourage managers and employees on how to use available tools and resources, (Benefits, family strengthening, learning & WFD opportunities, and community resources) (20%)

Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). (20%)

Manage and resolve employee relations issues. (15%)

Provide new employee onboarding/orientation support and follow-up for field employees in assigned business units. (15%)

Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation. (10%)

Collaborate with field managers to ensure employees understand relevant career pathways and can access learning opportunities. (10%)

Create, facilitate, and support relevant employee recognition and engagement activities. (10%)


Ancillary Job Functions


Provide general support to the HR and leadership teams to assist with operational initiatives.

Facilitates Internship and volunteer programs for assigned business units.

Conduct oral drug tests and background checks

Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of training needs.

Perform other related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.


At least two-three years minimum of relevant HR experience within a mid-size organization.

PHR or SHRM-CP highly desirable or willing to obtain.

Lean/ Six Sigma training and/or certification


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.


Knowledge of employment laws to ensure all hiring practices are non-discriminatory and legally defensible.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; knowledge of internet search engines.

Ability to leverage Goodwill’s Human Capital Management system to ensure employee data is complete and current; and to monitor and extract actionable data relative to HR KPIs.

Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management, employees, and co-workers. Ability to give and follow written and oral instructions.

Strong influencing and coaching skills to develop leaders in the moment and over time.

Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.

Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and assist with HR office needs as they arise.


Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.


General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.

Field based. Local travel to assigned business units.
