Job Summary:
The Applications Engineering Sr. Manager role will report directly to the Director of Applications Engineering for Teledyne Defense and will be primarily responsible for managing a geographically diverse technical sales enablement team in support of the Teledyne Defense Business Development & Sales (BDS) organization for Surveillance-Boston and Unmanned Ground Systems (UGS) product lines. The team is comprised of Apps/Systems Engineers who support a cross functional set of internal & external customers including BDS, sales operations, product management, and engineering involving product definition for quotations, proposal support, product demonstrations, as well as ad hoc customer product/support inquiries.
This leader will develop and execute plans for ensuring collaborative environment that integrates the skills and expertise of Apps/Systems Engineers to support the sales life cycle from pre-sale to post-sale product delivery and acceptance. Responsible for developing technical disciplines within the team to ensure coverage for mechanical installations, electrical integration, environmental testing, command & control mission system integration, system troubleshooting, and complex operational knowledge for systems in airborne, maritime, land, vehicle, and unmanned ground system domains.
Additionally, this role will have life cycle management responsibilities for the assigned demo asset inventory through the current CRM asset tracking database system.
Ideally we would like this person to be located at our Billerica, MA location, however, we might consider a remote or hybrid position for the right candidate.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the demo asset inventory, including effective and efficient lifecycle management encompassing inventory budgeting, forecasting, disposal, and sales of eligible inventory.
- Develop and implement strategies for the optimization of technical resources and demo assets to enhance sales effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ensure that the team is equipped with the latest technical knowledge and skills necessary to support evolving product lines and technologies.
- Plan/assign staffing to support proposals including review of Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Information (RFI), including review and inputs to product compliance matrices, providing inputs to technical volumes, and coordinating with product engineering and external vendors for proposal support as required.
- Plan staffing and equipment resources to support demonstration activities.
- Continuously develop and implement new processes for efficient management of resources.
- Develop and Execute Staff Development Plan for building team skillsets to be support the business needs.
- Support and plan resources for trade shows as requested by show leads
- Support prototype/first article installations, setup, and configuration as required to ensure program success
- Support product engineering staff for production qualification testing.
- Maintain close communication with staff from Sales Operations, Business Development, and the Proposal team.
- Collaborate with product management teams by providing functional and customer feedback to the product and engineering teams
- Work closely with customers to manage technical product expectations
- Plan for & provide training resources for intern
