LOCATION: Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, 1200 Driving Park, Newark, NY 14513

SCHEDULE: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, with every other weekend

      

Position Summary: 
Environmental Service is the main defense against serious infections that may linger on surfaces throughout a medical facility. Collaboration between infection prevention and environmental services (EVS) staff limits the prospect of disease transmission within the healthcare environment.
    
Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, hallways and operating rooms.  Performs terminal cleaning of operating rooms and prepares patient rooms for new occupants.  Operates mechanical floor cleaners and refinishes floors.  Responsible for the collection of medical waste.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adheres to all uniform, attendance, departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
• Provides daily and discharge cleaning of patient rooms, including the completion of approved task sheets.
• Follows isolation procedure as appropriate.
• Adheres to bed tracking policies and procedures to accelerate turn time.
• Provides terminal cleaning of operating rooms (as assigned).
• Responds in a positive manner when asked to perform duties outside the normal routine.
• Displays good judgment when prioritizing work duties when faced with competing priorities. Knows how and when to seek help.
• Operates mechanical floor cleaners/able to refinish floors (as assigned).
• May be exposed to medications and will direct nurse services to address the immediate issue.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Attributes:

• Able to understand the English language highly preferred.
• Able to prioritize and follow verbal and written instructions highly preferred.
• Customer service driven highly desired.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous environmental services experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
