Platform Services Operations is looking for a motivated and solution focused Senior Developer in Java or Python to join us to boost effectiveness and enhance the product. Based in Manassas or Culpeper, VA, you will be working alongside a dynamic team of engineers working on development & maintenance of distributed database infrastructure in Swift. Your team is fully responsible for the design, optimization and operations of the Cassandra database platform at SWIFT. This DevOps team engages in the product evolution; covering software architecture, development, quality assurance, security, operations and IT infrastructure aspects.

What to expect

In this role you will:

• Lead or participate in design discussions, design/ code walkthrough meetings
• Develop code using technologies including but not only limited to Java, Python etc.
• Resolve complex problems by investigating and designing solutions for service operations
• Develop and integrate third party components including system testing and installations
• Develop automation to complete installations, configuration of database infrastructure
• Contribute to new development as well as maintenance of existing complex software systems
• Ensure compliance to SWIFT security best practices, coding standards, reference architecture, requirement/design artefacts, development and release methodologies (CM as well as CI/CD.
• Provide TOI (Transfer of Information) and technical guidance as necessary to team members
• Support set-up of test environment, write unit test driver, functional drivers
• This position offers flexible work between onsite and remote (At least 2 days working onsite)

What will make you successful?

We are seeking professionals with:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Java/Python Developer with 5 to 10 years of experience in systems development
• Good understanding and hands on development experience with Core Java (Java Design Pattern, Solid foundation with Object Oriented language) or Python.
• Experience with RHEL operating system and bash/shell scripting.
• Experience in working on critically important, highly available, high performance software systems.
• Problem solving capabilities and take accountability for delivering results.
• Good communication skills (Both Written & Oral).
• Agile mentality and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates Operational Excellence.
• Leads with a team focus

Preferred qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in databases (distributed databases like Cassandra)
• Experience with continuous integration/delivery build environment: GIT/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Maven
• Experience with Automation
