Workdays & Hours: FLSA Exempt position. Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; some evening/weekend work required. Hybrid on-site work model available with supervisory approval; staff required to be on-site at least 2 days per week (this is non-negotiable).

A Sr. IT Business Planner position is available with the City of Fort Worth IT Solutions’ newly created AI Unit. As Artificial Intelligence demands within the City continue to grow, we need a person to help coordinate AI requests throughout the departments. This includes gathering the requirements, identifying risks, verifying the request will not violate any policies, identifying if alternative solutions already exist, and making sure that all requests follow the formal AI Governance process.
Specifically, this person will need to have a great understanding of: AI governance, development of local polices around AI, and Federal and State legislation around AI requirements as it pertains to the use of within a government agency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Programming, Computer Technology or a related field
- Six (6) years of business experience, business analysis, project management, and information technology experience or technology automation and innovation
- Valid Driver’s License
- Candidate selected for hire must pass a CJIS background check (see below for details)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with gathering requirements around Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, as well as mapping out business processes to identify where AI technology can improve the process
- Experience with risk assessments and monitoring around Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology
- Hands-on experience with drafting policies, procedures, administrative regulations and other technical specifications documents
The Sr IT Business Planner’s job responsibilities include:
- Participate with FWLab efforts to identify Artificial Intelligence (AI) needs/wants. Document process they are looking at automating, identify what data will be involved and all other requirements for the need. Communicate AI Governance and Policy to other departments and make sure they are following the AI Governance process for any new requests.
- Keep up with Federal, State and Local regulations/policies/laws are identified around AI – and communicating any changes to departments as well as IT Solutions.
- Obtains information to identify risk of proposed AI solution/process; data being used, process in which AI will be incorporated, who from the department will be the owner of the process and responsible for monitoring it as we move forward.
- Prepares feasibility studies and assists in Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Mayor and Council (M&C) for requests for AI technology to improve processes for departments.
- Serves as the conduit between customer community and solutions providers. Engages vendors, contractors and city personnel for all AI requests. Review Vendor contracts to make sure that language around AI meets the requirements of the City and follows any policies/regulations/laws around AI.
