Job Description:

The Director, Benefits is a key leadership role within the Company’s centralized benefits team, reporting to the Vice President of HR, Benefits, and Compensation. This position oversees and optimizes the company’s benefits and retirement programs, including medical claims utilization, cost-containment initiatives, and retirement administration, both locally and nationally. The Director provides strategic leadership, analyzes complex data, and develops cost-effective solutions while managing a team of benefits professionals. Additionally, this role advises senior leadership, practice leaders, and executives on benefits strategies, trends, and program enhancements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and employee needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the benefits team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture aligned with strategic business objectives.

  • Collaborate with the Vice President of HR, Benefits, and Compensation – Benefits to align programs with the growing needs of the OneOncology platform.

  • Oversee the implementation and administration of benefits programs, including cost-containment strategies for medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits, and retirement plans

  • Partner with the benefit navigator or benefit team leader on medical claims utilization data, recommend strategies to reduce costs while maintaining high-quality employee benefits.

  • Drive the design, communication, and continuous improvement of health and retirement plans to ensure compliance, competitiveness, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Partner with senior leadership to support company growth, employee engagement, and retention.

  • Review total benefit cost projection completed by broker actuary in conjunction with the HR and Finance teams, modeling alternatives as necessary

  • Partner with practice leadership to establish or adjust strategic annual cost share strategy as needed and provide ongoing education and communication regarding the benefit program

  • Recommend alternative cost containment strategy opportunities for both the utilization of the domestic network and national savings opportunities

  • Support the plan renewal process by working with the VP of Total Rewards and brokers to request quotes, evaluate options, negotiate rates, and prepare executive summaries.

  • Provide educational resources to practice HR teams on healthcare consumption and claims management.

  • Prepare comprehensive benefits reports and presentations for stakeholders.

  • Use data analytics to identify innovative cost-containment solutions.

  • Collaborate with other department leads as needed to proactively and comprehensively resolve issues

  • Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to ensure competitiveness and compliance of benefits offerings.

Experience and Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 7+ years relevant experience in a similar position.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

  • Proficiency in managing workflows and priorities to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with practice leaders and departmental stakeholders.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, workday experience preferred.
