Duties and Responsibilities
This Accountant III position is in the Audit & Review section and is responsible for analyzing, auditing, and issuing refunds for worthless checks from the Tax Collectors.  The incumbent will provide statistical data, and payment from customers and Tax Collectors. The incumbent will also manually calculate funds due on a refund application.  This position is also responsible for responding Tax Collectors verbally and in writing as well as provide customer service to internal and external customers.  

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•    Knowledge of State of Florida accounting policies and procedures.
•    Skill in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
•    Skill in data entry.
•    Skill in auditing, reviewing, or analyzing data for compliance.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers verbally and in writing.
•    Ability to work independently.
•    Ability to operate general office equipment to include multiline phone and calculator.
•    Knowledge of basic mathematics.
•    Ability to verify, enter, update and extract electronically stored information.
•    Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and assignments.
•    Ability to collect and process payments.
•    Ability to maintain confidential information.
•    Ability to maintain complex files and records. 
•    Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

•    At least two years of professional work experience in customer service.

•    At least two years of professional work experience in accounting.

•    Experience in Florida Real-Time Vehicle Information Systems (FRVIS) and Florida Driver Licenses Information Systems (FDLIS).
