SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST

SCHEDULE: 7a-7p; 7a-3:30p; 8a-4:30p; 7a-5:30p; on-call requirements

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists the surgeon during the operative or invasive procedures. Assures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure.  Monitors par level of all surgical instruments and supplies.  Prepares all surgical instruments for cleaning and sterilization.  Participates in department activities and maintains a safe environment for patients. Works under the supervision of the RN.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:

·         Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.

·         Certification as a Surgical Tech within 6 months of hire date.  

·         Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required.  New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.

·         Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

·         Ability to communicate well verbally.  Must work effectively as a member of a team.

·         Basic computer knowledge

·         Technical and/or manual skills in relation to certified surgical technician position.

·         One year of work experience in a hospital or surgery setting.
